Bonneville Dam Locking PolicyBonneville Dam presents a serious barrier for paddlers traveling from the Northwest Discovery Water Trail to the Lower Columbia River Water Trail. The US Army Corps of Engineers does not allow non-motorized boat to lock through - or provide any portage services. While trail planners are exploring do it yourself portage options - at this point, paddlers are encouraged to plan their portage around Bonneville Dam well in advance to ensure concessionaire availability and a smooth safe ride. The Corps of Engineers currently lists the following concessionaires as providing portage servcies.
